Marge Baroni Collection [link to EAD finding aid coming soon]
Correspondence, newspaper clippings, newsletters, and journals produced and collected by Marge Rushing Baroni. Baroni was a native of Natchez, Mississippi, and was active in the civil rights movement there in the 1960s. For a period of time, she also contributed to the local newspaper, the Natchez Democrat, but quit because of her political convictions.

Russell H. Barrett Collection [link to EAD finding aid coming soon]
Materials related to Russell H. Barrett's tenure as a professor of political science at the University of Mississippi. Much of the collections pertains to the integration of Ole Miss by James Meredith in September 1962, and the riots that ensued on campus and in the town of Oxford. Includes personal papers, pamphlets, reports, manuscripts, sermons, and other materials on various topics such as academic freedom on college campuses and the civil rights movement in Mississippi.

Citizens' Council Collection [link to EAD finding aid coming soon]
Materials related to the formation and activities of the White Citizens' Councils in Mississippi. The purpose of the Citizens' Councils was to fight desegregation in public schools in Mississippi and to enforce white supremacy throughout the state. This collection includes correspondence, reports,speeches, flyers, article reprints, and other materials documenting the activities of the Citizens' Council from 1954-1979.

Photography Collection of William Wert Cooper, Jr. [link to EAD finding aid coming soon]
William Wert Cooper, Jr. was a Senior majoring in Commerce at the University of Mississippi when James Meredith enrolled at the University of Mississippi. Cooper took these black and white and color photographs on campus and in the town of Oxford during the events surrounding Meredith's enrollment.

Verner S. Holmes Collection [link to EAD finding aid coming soon]
Material pertaining to higher education in Mississippi and the 1962 integration crisis at The University of Mississippi collected by Dr. Verner S. Holmes, a member of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning from 1956 to 1980. Includes minutes, scrapbooks, printed material, newsclippings, and oral history transcripts.

Katallagete / James Y. Holloway Collection [link to EAD finding aid coming soon]
Manuscripts and correspondence related to Katallagete, the journal of the Committee of Southern Churchmen. Published from the 1960s to 1991, the journal was edited by James Y. Holloway, and boasted contributions by notable people such as Thomas Merton, Fannie Lou Hamer, Billy Graham, and Will Campbell, among many others. The collection contains correspondence, meeting minutes, loose journal issues, and other materials relating to the creation and publication of Katallagete. Also contains materials that pertain to the career of James Holloway.

Ku Klux Klan Collection [link to EAD finding aid coming soon]
Correspondence, pamphlets, publications, newspaper clippings, and other materials related to the revival of the Ku Klux Klan in the South after World War II. Contains materials about Klan activity in the following states: Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

James Howard Meredith Collection [link to EAD finding aid coming soon]
Materials documenting the family, educational, and professional life of James Meredith, the first African American to attend the University of Mississippi. Includes a variety of materials relating to Meredith’s enrollment process at Ole Miss and his time as a student there, as well as materials from his military service, family, later civil rights activities, and professional endeavors.

Race Relations Collection [Link to finding aid here.]
Printed material and manuscripts that document race relations, civil rights, black power, white supremacist groups, and multiculturalism in the United States, particularly in Mississippi and at the University of Mississippi. Includes information about the enrollment of James Meredith at Ole Miss, as well as other documents related to the civil rights movement in Mississippi.

Correspondence, manuscripts, speeches, audio, and printed material produced and collected by James Wesley Silver. Silver was a professor of history at The University of Mississippi from 1936 to 1964 and author of Mississippi: The Closed Society.

William Madison Whittington Collection [link to EAD finding aid coming soon]
Papers of William Madison Whittington, who served as state senator representing Leflore and Tallahatchie Counties in the Mississippi Legislature from 1916 to 1920 and as United States representative from Mississippi's Third Congressional District from 1925 to 1951. Materials in the collection include speeches, political and legislative papers, and correspondence.

Records of John Davis Williams, Chancellor of The University of Mississippi from 1946 to 1968. Williams presided over the University's rapid expansion following World War II and the integration crisis of 1962. Includes correspondence, speeches, articles, reports, and personal papers.
